First Math Journal

The students were asked to share their true thoughts about math—and they didn’t hold back! Students were encouraged to be open and honest, and they did an amazing job. Their answers gave us a peek into how they really feel about math and the reasons behind those feelings. We’re so proud of the effort they put in and the thoughtful ideas they shared!

First Number Talk of the Year

This week in Math, we kicked off something new called a Number Talk! A Number Talk is when we take a number and think of as many interesting things about it as we can. Our very first number was 13,412—that’s how many steps Mr. C took on Wednesday!

First, everyone had time to write down all their ideas about the number. Then, we shared our thoughts with the whole class. Along the way, we practiced skills like rounding, place value, divisibility rules, expanded form, word form, and even more.

We’ll be doing Number Talks every week this year, and we can’t wait to see what cool numbers we’ll explore next!

4W – Morning Meeting Fun

Morning Meeting is a daily activity that helps to build community. The students in both classes follow the same routine each day during Morning Meeting. This Morning Meeting includes a greeting, a share, and an activity.
